state park at sardis
I don't need anything special, just a place to hang my hat and a place to charge the boat batteries.
Rent a site and pitch a tent. Bring a fan and a heater for what is needed.
If we use John Kyle state park campground, let's get in a section and not be all over the campground. From the ranger's station to the boat ramp fills up fast, sites 01 through 114. I would say we use the loop with 219, 220, 270 through 283 and a few others close if needed. It's a good flat area.

With a kitchen like this, how could we go anywhere else?

I will be very interested in attending the spring camp. As soon as dates are finalized, I would appreciate any info possible on local motels or such. I'll probably be just finishing up my snow goose hunts and some peace and quiet on the water will be most welcome if any can be located. I realize peace and quiet in camp will be in short supply and that is OK by me. I can tow my rig down or share a seat with one of the members here if any are open.
John Kyle has cabins at the north end of the dam, upper lake about $80 per night. Some have 1 queen bed in one room with a hidabed in the kitchen/living room. Some have 2 queen beds in one room.
Another set of cabins on hwy 315 between Sardis and the lake. Someone will post that info later. After location and date is set.
2 motels at the Sardis exit I-55 and Hwy 315, I know nothing about them.
Batesville has a few motels mostly at I-55 and hwy 6. You can take hwy 315 or hwy 35 from the lake to get on I-55 and go south to hwy 6.
Non-ethanol gas is at the Local station, I-55 and hwy 315.
Anyone is welcome to park their boat at my site overnight to charge the batteries.
Ya'll have gotten me to thinking about buying a tent....
But I have one question. Is tent camping and RV camping allowed in the same campground? Would I be able to put up a tent in a campsite located near all the goobers with the big RVs and campers? Are some sites reserved for rigs and others reserved for tents?
Actually, that was three questions. Go figure......:biggrin
They allow it at Oak Grove at Sardis.
I've never had a problem with setting up a tent on any site. Some sites have a tent pad that they want you to use. I've seen tents set up on the parking pad.
I lay down a tarp first for the tent to set on, this keeps the ground moisture from getting the bottom of the tent wet, if no rain. I get the tarp longer than the tent or use 2 for a porch to keep trash down from entering the tent. A rug inside and one outside to catch trash. I sit a canopy over the door and cover the tent and canopy with a trap. This helps to kill the lights that other campers think they need to keep on all night long. It helps if it does rain.
A box fan and utility heater help sometimes. I've seen some with an air conditioner rigged to them. Some new ones have a port for an air conditioner.
Get an air bed from Walmart from the bedding section with a built in pump, 110 volt. I've tried the ones from the sports section that need a pump to fill them. I can't get the air right in them.
yep they do at oak grove
Come on down for spring camp and I will hook you up with a fishing legend. A real legend in his own mind. Guarantee you a limit. Text me and I will give you wannabe's number. Lmao
I vote for somewhere in ms near a lake and campground. Its it time yet????
OK..Fall camp is history.. What dates for the spring one? With all that is going on in the spring, we may be smart to go on and pick a date and lake...
:dono
If you don't find someone to make the trip with you. Come on by your self. I'm sure after 30 minutes these guys will make you feel as welcome as they did me. Or second thought I bet they would make you feel more welcome then they did me. Great bunch of guys and gals at the fish and Camps in ms. Looking forward to the next one where ever its at. Be it the Big three or Jackson ms or where ever. I'm there.

Shiloh who????????????????
he is a BLOND :yikes
Must not have seen the quote.
BALD not Blond.. Love to pick at Shiloh...Now if I can just teach him how to cook a cobbler....................
All I know is, regardless of date and place, I'm signing up to bring the fries. Can't risk having half the french fries be a no-show again.
I peeled and sliced 20 pounds of red potatoes for the fall camp. Sorry it wasn't enough.
I saw were another member was bringing some so I didn't cut more.
I also saw someone else had signed up, otherwise I would have put my name down too. Your fries were beautiful, canebreaker. I bet 10lbs more and we would have had plenty. Then again, I'm not quite sure when they ran out.
Only a true cook would call French fries beautiful..Good job Paige..
