Default Just bought a side by side & I ask what fuel they

Used on it, was told aviation fuel, I think it's something like 100 octane, has anyone used it in their 2 stroke mercury motor ? It almost 6 bux a gallon here at airport but if it's safe for motor I think I would use it maybe not all the time every so often. Any thoughts appreciated

Aviation fuel is a lot quicker ignition and some of it has no lubricants, I would make sure before I run it, we use to go to Tuscumbia and buy 110 octane racing fuel which does have the lubricants in it for engines, with that being said since you are mixing oil it, it might be fine, I'm not sure, I think I would check with a marine dealer and get there opinion first.

It's 100LL (low lead). It's fine to run in anything without a catalytic converter. It burns a tad bit hotter and will eventually melt a cat, but you just about won't ever have a predetonation problem with it. I've actually even run up to 1/2 100LL and 1/2 87 in my pickup. In lawn mowers and everything else at work it get 100ll and everything fires right up and never have to work on any of the carbs!

Never seen an outboard manual that recommended anything over 90 octane and most all specify 86 unleaded.
