In a gasser if all the nornal maintenance is done and a synthetic oil is used 10k wouldn't be a problem I wouldn't think. On this diesel no way-- but 7500 maybe.

My wife's VW Jetta uses syn oil and their recomended interval is 10,000. On the more modern engines with all the electronics you get such a clean fuel burn that you have very little carbon passing into the oil. That is the big killer of oils. Even with extended oil change intervals with modern engines and today's oils you see very few oil related engine failures. Good filters and good oil can run a lot farther than the recommended miles. Lot of that is to get you back in the dealership. I have ran non syn shell oil for 60,000 miles in big trucks, just adding makeup oil and oil samples every 12,000 miles. Never a oil related problem. Engines still running strong at 600,000+ when we sold them.
You'll get different answers from everyone on that.
I cheat! Brother-In-Law has a mobil oil change shop. I buy my synthetic from him for a really low price. My cost per gallon is well below what most pay for a quart. Last go round oil and filters for 2 cars, 4 trucks F250, F350, C2500, ram3500 hemi and 2 riding lawnmowers and a rototiller was less than $100.
I was whining about 10 dollar a gallon oil and he made the offer, havent turned back since and if I need to change in winter, I just go there and do it.
the fuel filter kit and air filter are gonna hurt your feelings also.
Yep. Did the fuel filters right after I bought it but thats another story :)
Now I know why your house has no AC!!!
