That's some dried glue. I glued some 1/4 rubber on the bottom of it so that the I wouldn't have metal to wet carpet contact.

Great idea! I wonder if it would work on non threaded bases, and in the front for spider rigging?
I would be careful with this particular "T" design without a threaded base or secured down. it would flip backwards pretty easy. If the base in your boat is accessible, you could use a bolt and nut..
Should work well up front for spider rigging.
That is a great way not to have to drill a bunch of holes in your really nice boat!
