Never had enough kids in my hood in the country but I had the biggest and best farm and hunting land in the house. Can't tell ya how many acres I farmed on the knees. I always wanted to build a petal combine so I could help Dad out.

Here is what my yard looked like at 8AM today. That is ice, not snow. Been sleeting all morning, then tomorrow it is supposed to turn into freezing rain. That is when it gets interesting, like walking on a frozen lake. I am in the central midlands of the state. Folks above us getting up to 6" snow, below us getting sleet and then freezing rain. They predict up to an inch of freezing rain, that will bring down trees and power lines.
This stuff falling now does not stick to the trees, it blows around like snow.
Just talked to a fella at our local co-op electric company and they are making contingent plans to come over and help if necessary. This could be big.
Many a road was built out in the dirt using an empty snuff bottle and I don't remember one ever getting broke. You needed it for the next road job. If you were under 18 you didn't need a cell phone because you let your parents know where you were going to be and who would be there. You couldn't wait to get that old car. You had ideals for the way you wanted it to look. Never even gave a thought to a new one that was for your parents.
I remember walking along the river bank during low water looking for hooks and other tackle that had gotten snagged and broke off someones line,And the 1/4 pounder babe ruth candy bar???putting cardboard flappers on the bicycle spokes,,always looking for that perfect (throwing) rock,Checking the rabbit gums before school..Bologna gravy with scrambled egg and hot biscuits for breakfast...Great time to be a kid
those were the days but now all we have is our right now huh?
Hillybilly....I plum forgot bout those monster Baby Ruths. Wow! And you'd get a RC cola and put peanuts in it before you drank it. You'd go to a grocery store and have the guy cut you a big slice of bologna and a whole wafer cracker and get a chocolate soda for lunch. How bout findin a tree with the correct "Y" branch, cut it out and split a tire tube and make a sling shot and go rabbit huntin. And when you played a baseball game you'd leave the glove at your position so the guy on the other team could use it. Ahhhhh...the good ole days. So much easier then. I guess....
