Default My New Years Day excitement

First let me say that I live off a gravel road in the middle of several thousand acres of land owned by international Paper. No lights what so ever. At 4:00 AM I awake hearing my Jack Russell bark and I can hear footsteps across my front porch (which is more of a deck) and I can hear whispers. My truck is behind the house with the boat hooked to it and I live alone so it looks as if nobody is home. I lay in bed for a second trying to wake up and put it together then realize what's going on. I grab a flashlight and my 12 gauge and head to the front door (in boxers) I swing the front door open shining my light in the face of two 20 something looking homeboys. Both drunk saying they have run there truck off in a ditch and asking for help pulling it out. (Nope not going to happen) I explain to them (while still on guard) that they almost became a statistic this morning. Told them to head to there truck and wait I will send help. I call our local SO's and go back to bed. About 10 mins later I hear two patrol cars flying down my road. Just my excitement to start the new year.

Good job on not shooting them. Hope you scared the crap out of them. Maybe they will reflect a little, and realize how stupid they were. Happy new year.

Man, I'm glad you didn't have to shoot. I'm also glad for your sake that you are a light sleeper and had something to protect yourself with handy.

I had a similar hing happen 30 something years ago when i was young and green . Had a man ome to my house at 2 in ght morning and was setting in a porch swing singing . It was cold and he didn't have any shoes on and drunk as cooter brown . He is kept saying his name . This house also was out in the woods surrounded by ip woods . Called my paw in law at the time and he knew the guys . Told me where he live and i took him home . It was probably five miles from my house . It is funny now but it was not then . So i have had that feeling . Only a drunk or a fool would come to this house in the middle of the night now . Happy new year guys and glad it all worked out .
    CATCH THEM ALL.
