Default Need help finding a lure

Im trying to find something for my Dad. Hopefully for Christmas. He is an old time creek fisherman and just loves top water action. His favorite lure was called the nip-a-didie. They were introduced in the '40's and have been made by a couple lure companies like South Bend, and Luhr Jenson. He recently told me he couldn't find any new ones so I thought I would try on-line. Of course I tried basspro and cabelas and didn't get anywhere. They both have had them in the past but I can't find them now. I tried the manufacturers I mentioned and got no where. I was wanting to get him several colors a variations but the only ones I can find are vintage stuff on eBay. I kinda hate to pay for vintage stuff cause he's gonna add paint and glitter to his satisfaction and the next 15 lb grinnel he catches is gonna make a mess of it. Any how here is what they look likeName: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1386528534.516633.jpg

you might google lure collectors clubs and see what you find. I'd bet they are out there but price? anyones guess but in the box I'd say high.

Thanks, but I've seen these, I'm not looking for vintage or collectible lures. The ol' man is gonna FISH with them. He never was satisfied with the factory finishes so he's probably gonna paint them up also. I don't think I'm gonna get 10 or 12 of these vintage lures and let that happen to them. What I was hoping was that someone might know a lure company today that was still producing them, if I had know this 30 years ago I would've hoarded a few.

Back when I did a lot of green carp searching, in the 60s, I had two real good go to lures. One was a Christmas tree bomber. It was cream colored with some green specks of glitter all over it. The other was a Spin I Diddee, very similar to the Nip I Diddee, which I also had. It was also the same color as the Bomber. U can find the vintage ones on eBay. My grand kids claimed mine..

Thanks strmwalker, I've seen these and have used them before. They are my back up plan. They are smaller and lighter made than the nipp I didde. I know I'm being picky but its something he wants, so I'm trying. I may end up buying some of these for him to paint and play with and getting a couple vintage ones if he promises to keep the paint gun and grinnel away from them.

Btw... That crazy shad and the nip a didde are both good baits. If you've ever had a spotted bass blow up on one you know what I'm talking about, it's about the same feeling as a covey of qual errupting under your feet.
