Sad Day

Now days, 10 bucks a bird is cheap. Bull pen panel around the outside of the fence will also stop a dog or coyote from digging under the fence. I can mow over the
panels with my zero turn. Best way to have 10 or so laying hens is to have a chicken tractor pen. Move it around and let 'em have fresh ground to fertilize and eat
the grass. I built my own and enjoyed the fresh eggs and the chickens calming effects.

Dogs love birds. Would not know what to do if someone shot my dog. I let him out every morning to do his business and there is no doubt in my mind if my neighbors owned chickens he would kill them. I hate u lost your chickens and also hate a couple dogs lost there lives. I have trained my dog to fetch birds and would not know how to discipline him to not chase chickens. Thank goodness none of neighbors have chickens yet..

I think my wife was crying more for having to shoot the dogs than for loosing her "girls". One of the dogs was a stray, a skinny black dog, and the other was a pit bull mix. It's owned by some trashy folks in a rental house down the road. The man was arrested for burglary recently. The third one that got away is on my bucket list now. It was a boxer with a collar but I don't know who's dog it is.

Hate that cuz.

In Ms we have livestock laws that protect owners from prosecution for killing dogs that harrass or kill livestock, she did right as was well withing the law.

Scot, if you can prove who owns the dogs, you can make them pay for the chickens and the damage done, you have the law on your side

Scott, probably not worth the hassle. Please don't get caught hunting down that other dog, that's probably law breaking. Sad as the event was, try to let be what already happened. Replace the birds and hug the wife.
