I am going to the "happiest place on earth" the week of Thanksgiving. I have been given permission to go fishing for one day near the place we are staying. I am having trouble deciding on what to do.
1. go Green Carp fishing on either the Kissimmee chain or Ocochobee.
2. inshore fishing is about an hour away
3. deep sea fishing is also an hour away.
Has anyone on the board done any of these in the Walt Disney World area? If so what guide did you use?
I am leaning toward the inshore fishing due to the price point and I cant do that around here.
Any experiences, good or bad will be greatly appreciated.
Chilly

Bay fishing is kicking butt right now. Up the rivers and back bay in Biloxi and Bay St Louis has been on fire with big trout. Chilly, I'd go online and see what all is biting down that way, then check around on some Florida outdoor fishing forums. They'll steer you in the right direction

Dude, you're only a hop, skip and a jump from some of the best near shore fishing around. Hit the Keys. You can actch Goliath groupers that weigh 400-600 pounds, Bonefish on a fly rod, tarpon, ALL the fish on my bucket list. I started saving a few months ago for a trip down in a couple more years. I wanna do it up right so it's gonna take some serious change. LOL

Chilly,
I grew up in that area and fished the Kissimmee chain quite a bit. Central Florida is a bass fishing destination in and of itself and the opportunity exists to catch some big fish in a much prettier setting than you're going to find in Mississippi. That being said, I'd swing an inshore trip for Reds, Snook, Flounder and such in the Indian River/Mosquito Lagoon/Space Coast area. Captain Jeff Kraynik is a good guide. Here's his website Florida Duck Hunting - Florida Gator Hunting - Florida Fishing . He may be booked up on duck trips but will certainly be able to point you in the right direction. That being said, his blast and cast trips can be a bunch of fun. Shoot ducks in the morning, catch fish in the afternoon. Either way, there are some great guides in the Indian River area and that's where I'd focus my search. November is a pretty dynamic month in fishing. You'll want a guide who's on the water to put you on the fish. I would not try to get into nearshore/offshore fishing. You're not going to have enough time to make it worthwhile and November can be snotty.
Finally, if you're going for a half day, make sure you go on the half of the day with a decent tide. I'm not knowledgeable on winter tides on the Atlantic side, but winter tides on the gulf suck.
I just came back from there Sat. If you want to try the specks (Black Crappie) of the lake around there, Contact the guys (Flycaster, Shu, or any of the others) on the Florida forum. Right now the waters of the lake ( Monroe, Harris Chain, Clemont Chain) are getting right. Good luck, Have fun the fishing is great there.
