    Default Home defense shotgun info

A typical home defense shotgun loaded with typical 00 buckshot will deliver a shot pattern only about 7" wide at 20 feet? That's smaller than most dinner plates! The general rule of thumb is 1" of expansion per yard, so at 3 yards (where most self defense shootings take place, or less) you'll only get a pattern about the size of a man's fist! While they may still be the ideal home defense firearm and are still very deadly, don't buy into the myth that "you don't have to aim - just point and pull the trigger" with a 12ga shotgun!!

Take that 00 buck out. Use bird shot that won't penetrate walls as much. Think about what's on the other side

In the south u would have to have a death wish to take your chances against a redneck and a shotgun. I would rather someone shoot at me with a pistol. Inside of 50 yards I don't think there is anyway to miss. I was taught to point my shotgun by the way

I use #6 and 71/2 on coyotes. One oz. shot, 2 3/4 dram equiv. powder. Dropping them at 40 yds.
