My grandmother was one of 8 Mitchell's. 5 boys, 3 girls. The Mitchell men were all craftsmen. 4 of the 5 were buried with missing fingers. The 5th was a mechanic. The other 4 were wood workers. All 4 of the woodworkers cut fingers off on multiple occasions. One, cut the same fingers off twice and one finger off three times. With him, he had to write down directions for you because he couldn't point you where to go.

And push sticks can kick back. Pay attention at all times. Always have something to hold the weight of the lumber as it comes off the saw. Table saws are great for ripping, but terrible for cross cutting. Always turn off the saw if you have to adjust or it's binding. I never lost a finger and helped build a few houses and many cabinets years ago, but several guys I know have. Happy cutting!
Be careful using the rip fence when ripping narrow.....the piece you are cutting off can kick back at you....always stand to the left side of the blade when ripping. Do not use the rip fence when making crosscuts either. Always use push sticks
