    Default Butla 9/8/2013

Sittin around the house got bored so I went to the closest lake which was Butla!Didn't get there till 10. Launched at Dubb and went into Hurricane for about 4 hrs.Caught small bass and slimers like they were going outa style single poleing.Came back out to the main lake and set up my spider poles. Just got them all baited and in the holders when BAM!!A slab on the first bite. Threw it on ice and just that 1 fish made me feel great since it has been so tough to fish Butla this year. The slimers were so bad that after a while of throwing them back, I decided to keep a mess to cook whole! In my haste to get to the lake, I managed to run off without both sonars!I was using my pole length to judge depth.I guess I was in the slimer zone more than not but that's where I caught both crappie. the second one was just shy of 12 but really fat. Sucker was slinging mess as I was unhooking it!Shad were everywhere. Small bass were cruising the top everywhere!I stayed till just before dark but couldn't muster another crappie! Here's a couple pics.

Maybe...just maybe if the water drops some more the fish will pull out of the grass. I know I hunted the lake bottom last year and the grass was 10-12 ft. tall...Still is in some areas. Congrats on supper!
