I read an interesting article recently which backs up your statement. It spoke about manufacturers cashing out over the hype of "Government Shortages". So long as they keep they supply low while the demand in super high they will keep raking in the dough.
My .2 cents is to buy yourself a multistage reloading press and make your own. I and everybody I know who competes with firearms do it and it will pay for itself in no time if you shoot a lot! I browse the local gun ranges and can find all the brass I need usually. Just need to make sure you go over them with a fine tooth comb before you load them.
To me it seems that gas prices dropped some after the election. I pulled the book from the truck, 07/18/2008, $3.95 per gallon. 02/09/2009, $1.69. 01/04/2010, $2.27. Fuel prices depend on where you live, delivery fees and the amount of profit the owner wants to make.
After the New Town shooting everyone got scared and ran out to buy up all the guns and ammo they could find. That placed a shortage all the way back to the manufacturers. Some vendors getting 100 to 1,000% mark up on their supplies. The same ammo we have to wait in line for, and hope they have what you want when your name is called.
O hasn't put a ban on any type of gun or ammo yet. Hasn't created any new forces in the law enforcement ranks. The same old ones that were there when he took office. Each director decides what they need for a year of operation and that is what's bought.
If I owned an ammo plant? It would be a 16/6 operation. Limit weekly hours to 48. Gov. contracts would be 60% of the work. I hear that some are doing 80%. Employees could buy from the production but with a limit.

I do the same as you, but with a single stage press, cast my own bullets and reload 1,000 to 1,200 rounds per week. None of my pistols have had a jacketed bullet through them. But ball ammo is what they carry.
Winchester in oxford is running around the clock except on Sundays. Don't know where it all goes but it's being made at least
I was looking over the Black Friday ads last night. Bass Pro will have Winchester 22's 500 ct. for $25 starting at 5 am, limit 1 per customer. For the Pearl visitors, that will be $26.75 total. While the ones that have to visit the Memphis store will pay $27.49.

Most people that are buying the ammo are resale the ammo on the net there making money while they can. As far as gas prices goes only time it goes down is before holidays. Cuz they going to sell more of it. Oil men run this country not any president. There making it while they can. This is America wouldn't live in any other place. Everybody's chasing that dollar.
A member here wanted some 22's a while back. I sent him a PM with the price I paid, round it up to the next dollar and you can have some. He doubled my price for 5 boxes, would call and we would meet for exchange. I haven't heard from him since, haven't seen him post either. The last 2 republican presidents were oil men. It went sky high and we had a shortage.
