News just reported that the Hinds county judge that did that can only make the call for that jurisdiction. Desoto and Tate counties are gonna be John wayneing it up tomorrow!
as billy joe fell to the floor the crowd all gathered round, and listened to his final words...... don't take your guns to town son, leave your guns at home bill....don't take your guns to town
Don't think he can make that call for the jurisdiction. That's what this law was clarifying, judges had tried to, once again, legislate from the bench and prohibit open carry by muddying up the law. His order won't stand!
It was carry as you wish for years. Then get your permit from the county office. Now they want to jack the rules this way and that. Read the rules, carry as you wish.
2 street signs come to mind. "this is a gun free zone" and "all home owners own guns and are well trained"
2 local stores I visit, one the employees wear a 40 or 45 on their side, the other they carry a 22, 25 or 380 in their pocket. To me one is saying "just try it" the other is saying "I could hurt you"
Only thing wrong with open carry is if a crackhead is in a place of business with a gun and your there open carrying you are the first one he is goin to take out but if your concealed its more than likely you'll get the chance to take him out
I agree with bar pit, I'll continue to carry concealed but I have carried open all over the south without any problem.
I disagree, i think the crackhead sees me armed an moves on to the next place with the no weapons allowed sign in the window.
In general, I think open carry is a deterrent to crime. However, in the specific, you could be making yourself a target. If you are choosing to open carry, I would encourage heightened situational awareness and also choosing a weapon that is disabled by the ejection of the magazine. In a struggle to take your weapon, you then have the option of dropping the mag and not having to worry about your own weapon being used against you. It would also be most wise to invest in a positive retention holster.
