I just load the grill up with some hickory, oak, cherry and apple wood. Burn it down to coals and cook on it.
man I don't want to get cross with feesh , but that sure sounds like a real good way to rust one out every year !! I have a good one that will shut off..... you close the damper and its out. I put a disc coulter blade in the bottom and pour my coals on it to keep it off the bottom, when im ready to go again, ive got a piece of small expanded metal and a bucket that I recycle into,, cuts down on the dollars and the ash/un-burnt coals in the corners of the yard !!

For a Weber witch I have the gold model , your basic grilling you cannot beat it... For slow cooking I have a brinkman smoker I use lump charcoal...
I use Nothing but charcoal....Gas sucks!!!!
yes that will work great, at the fireplace stores they also have a tube of sealant that you put on the cracks or pipes/ducts.... cant remember but its red and goes by a number not a name.... that would be good to lay a small bead down to stick the felt. now you might want to burn it off one good time before you cook on it, might even want to test a small piece before you go the full monte ...... it doesn't smell or smoke on a fireplace but I aint cookin $9 dolla a lb beef steaks on it either !!
" "I aint cookin $9 dolla a lb beef steaks on it either !! " "
Where do you find them that cheap?
Hahaha...I will prolly have to grill King Cotton dogs
For a great steak.......marinate in Coke in the fridge for 24 hrs. Then grill it....dont put anything else on it.
