That's a water separator filter major....It has a float inside that is supposed to float up if you have water in your fuel. Your alarm is temperature....your either running hot or your temp sender could have gone bad....also a stream of water out the pee hole does not mean everything is OK...Its just a flow indicator.....you can have a weak water pump and the pee hole still have a stream of water.

Yes, new impeller installed when Rob, owner of Action Marine, did complete upper and lower service a few months ago, haven't put but an hour or so on it since then.

If it was installed with the fins on the impellor going the wrong direction it will still pump water but not good enough to keep from running hot. Dunno.....it could be just a bad temp sensor setting the alarm off.

If it has water in it the float inside will be floating......that's the way my 90 4 stroke Yammy works anyway ......my filter looks just like majors....same location too. I did install a big spin on water separator filter though between the fuel tank and the engine. That way with the water problems caused by ethanol I have extra protection.

So, could water in the filter inside the cowling make the alarm come on?
