My son has a video he took from New Brunswick three years ago with a black bears foot between his feet on a hangon stand. You can hear my son clear this throat to get the bears attention. It climbed down, woffed around his stand poppin his jaws for awhile then climbed a tree 3 feet from the one my son was in and was slapping at him with one paw. 21 minute video. Awesome! This was a Tuesday night. Kevin bow shot him at 16 yards Thursday when the big bore he was hunting didn't come in.
We bow hunt black bear in New Brunswick every year for the last 7 and have really had some great 'up front and personal' experiences. It's a hoot!
By looking at that bears ears, I can tell you he was 1 1/2 year old bear.....really small. Just curious and thinking that what ever was in that tree might be related to him. Curious animals. Big, really big black bear, RARELY climb trees....they can, but their weight is too much to make much of an effort. They'd rather shake you out of it than climb it. A big bore will shake a small cub out of the safety of a tree to kill it so the sow will come 'back in.' Seen it happen several times. Like an old tom cat with a litter of kittens.
