I have a feeling this isn't ending well. Whatever you decide to use, please post plenty of pics! :biggrin
Larry before you condem the ducer get in touch with Humminbird. Or get on electronics board and try to get in touch with Humminbird Greg or Debra. If it is bad and you have to pull it, take a small sharp chisel and go down through the middle of the epoxy and using a small hammer tap on it and see if you can chip some loose. If you can get a part started should be able to work it all lose. I wouldn't think it adhered rel good to your shaft unless you sanded and prepped real good for permanent install. You really want to save itt if new for warranty. Remember in a case like this time is your friend.
I was given a "youtube" video to watch by Dough Vahrenburg and that is what he used. as for testing before hand, well I can look back and see where that would have been a good idea but hey guess what "its done" and aint no going back LOL, I will get it off or buy a new shaft, so if I damage the shaft trying to get it of then I wont have a choice :) I will try heat as I read where that would work also but will see
Thanks Cray, I have sent Greg an email to see what he says, I didn't sand the shaft so I think once I get an edge up then I maybe can work it on off. Or I can always use the 1 side and DI LOL I wish I could say that it has helped me to catch fish but the truth is that it has helped me to see fish but my catchin is still right that with WB LOL
Use super glue GEL! Silicone will work also.
Cray, looks like you were right, by not roughing up the surface on the TM shaft, I was able to pull loose a couple of spots on the shaft where the epoxy came loose pretty easy or I made a bad mix of the stuff one LOL either way looks like it might come off with out to much of trouble but it is yet to be seen. I adjusted the ducer and leveled it up from side to side and back to back and thought I would try it one more time before I sent it off for repair. I have the metal radiator type clamp around it but I have some rubber in between the clamp, transducer and the TM motor. Don't know if the way I may have had it mounted could be responsible or not but gonna try it one more time to see if it helped. Feeling better about getting the epoxy off now and if I have to replace the ducer, I will go back with a few spots of Super Glue as Feelay and Sat mentioned. Thanks again for you heads up on getting the epoxy started to come off :ThumbsUp
