I thought it was just a poll also to get an idea of what dates everyone was interested in voting on a permanent date, there are a lot of people interested in being there from Ms. Al. and Tn. so we need to figure it out I'm sure there are dates in which a lot of people can't make it and I'm pretty sure we can't find a date where everyone can be there, my pick is Oct. 5th or 19th, I'm involved in a Fund Raiser for St. Jude on the 12th and it's very important to us, the last weekend in October I'll be fishing the Cabela's Classic on Kentucky Lake. As I was saying there are gonna be dates that some of us can't attend, and believe me I want to be there especially since it's supposed to be at Pickwick, and I will do my best to be there and hope everyone else can also. So whatever we need to do let's do it, so folks can make plans!
Judging by the way the first poll was run I would say that the 12th of Oct will be the date, it got the most votes just like Pickwick did in the first poll, we will see.
I sure didn't mean to stir a pile, just wanted to find out what the final plans were, especially if it's gonna be a "super" multi-state camp, as was suggested.
JP Coleman looks like they have a great set up between the campsites, cabins and an on-site motel. It would be great for the folks like Cane Pole who usually have to stay in a hotel further from camp.
(I'm with oldbigun, the 19th sounds great to me.)
It wasn't my intention to run anything; just wanted everyone to have some input on the where and when. I spoke with Major and he wanted to check to see if this date would work for Slab. Since he is on his way to the coast to do some heavy duty fish whacking, I took the liberty of contacting Slab myself. As of right now he isn't planning on attending; although this is subject to change. Changing the date won't matter as far as him coming.
I believe we have enough activities in Mississippi to schedule around without worrying about scheduling around other states activities.
Rees Guide, or anyone for that matter, who wants to take it from here and run with it, speak up NOW.
If not, I'm going to call it. There are plenty of campsites for $20, and rooms and cabins, from $75-$85, available at J.P. Coleman State Park the weekend of October 12.
As of right now I have no plans to attend because of Medical reasons that wont allow me to. You started this so you handle it ATM.
JP is a great facility I've been there several times over the last 15 years and they seem to be progressive and enjoy having groups. I think just about everyone can find a place to suit them there.
You didn't stir anything maam, I don't think a firm date had been stated but the dates were there to choose from and as Olebigun said, it just cant be set to where it fits everyones schedule, so ATM is doing the best that can be done with what he is doing. It got some what sidetracked with the Poll that popped up about a "Mini Camp" on the same date but I believe that all has subsided. I know its a pretty good drive from the middle and south of the state, but unless I took a helicopter, its just as far from here at Pickwick to Grenada or Sardis as it is from Grenada and Sardis to Pickwick. I have been to camp at Sardis and test drove my boat on Grenada. If the date don't fall where someone can make it, well I pray that you will live long enough to make it to the Spring camp when its in your back yard or home lake :)
Atm you are doing fine, I was just hoping since we have tried several times before and have never had one at Pickwick and it looks like there is going to finally be one up here is great and that The Boss and I could be there, but the 12th we can't and so be it. We are cordinators of the StJude benefit that weekend and it's just really important to us, matter of fact was the same weekend as last falls camp I believe and we didn't get to attend. I hope evryone has a great time and makes new freinds and catches a lot of fish!
