This may be in the wrong place but I put it here because I value your guys opinions( most of them anyway). I am installing a 898c on the consule should I put the gps puck at the back of the boat. My puck now for the troller is by the consule, so should I move it up front by the bow. Does everyone run two gps pucks like that or one in the middle of the boat and interlink or eithernet cable them. thanks in advance

I may be wrong but....I never saw where a few feet made that much difference
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

I just installed a 998 and mounted mine right over ducer in rear. Since I had plenty of clearance and was new install. Also figure as close to ducer as possible would help returning to spots especially with DI. Like G said in most cases a few feet isn't going to make much difference. This is just a opinion, the more clearance you have for your antenna to receive signals the more accurate it is going to be. I have seen some factor/ dealer installs where antenna is mounted behind a unit on dash next to windshield and wondered how they got any signal to speak of.

Believe me guys, a few feet makes a huge difference. I just moved my 898 puck to the back over the transducer and everything matches up. Before I would be off as much as 15 feet when trying to find a brushpile I marked with SI. Now they are spot on!
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!
If you are running 2 units with GPS that's what you need to do. You are actually marking yourWaypoints off transducer. Even if you network the 2 units you would be able to go to a Waypoints you marked with back ducer and using front ducer find what you marked as you come up to it.
