I've had a S&W Chief Special .38 for years. I've always liked it cause of the small frame which fits my hand really well. I decided to go with a higher caliber after hearing about the woman who shot the man coming after her & her two kids in their home. She shot him 5 times in the head and chest with the same gun I have and he kept coming. Of course, this model only holds five shots. She slowed him down and got her kids away to a neighbor, but he still managed to get out of the house, into his car and drive a short way before getting out and collapsing (not dead). I now have an XDs .45 and a Sig P250 9mm. If I'm ever in a life threatening situation and shoot somebody, they better NOT be able to get up and keep coming at me.

I've got a GP100 and a SR9c I keep loaded in the house, the GP loaded with 6 38+P until I can find some 357 HD ammo, the SR9c has 17 rds of 9mm with a back up 10 rd mag. so don't feel under gunned at home. I suffer from the dreaded disease no-ass-a-tall so I need something light to carry, have a hard time normally keeping um up. Was by the LGS on the way home from town today and dry fired a S&W 642 and a Ruger LCR, both hammer-less and the Ruger had the better trigger to me. The stubbie will not be a gun that gets a lot of use other than carry, the GP is a dream to shot. Like I said I just like a revolver best, arthritis has a hold on my hands and it's a pain to rack a slide most times.

I have a Rossi .44 that I carry in the cooler months- but carry a small auto during the summer. Taurus at one time made several big bore/small frame revolvers, but not sure if they still do.
