If you aent gonna use the hooks you are taking off the easiest thing to do is cut them off, good side cutters and they will all be off in no time.

I just bought 20 Crankbaits for trolling and I want to switch out the hooks for red ones. I have my hooks already, but am having a hard time getting the original hooks off. Can someone tell me which ones to buy and where to find them for the small rings on the cranks? Thanks

Yep cut them off and get new rings. It's still a pain to put the new ones on but you only have to do it once. You'll still need a set of ring pliers, any of them will work. Think I got mine at Walmart.

Don't cut the split ring with cutters, just the eye of the hook. Them use yer thumbnail to pry the ring open enough to start the new hook.

I bought a pair of the Blue handle ones from BPS. Had to put long tip on grinder and round it off a little to work on small rings.

Thats how I do it BRM, then take a small needle nose and work the ring around. Fingernails are actually Tools.

All I ever use is a pair of SMALL needle nose pliers to put the split rings and blades on my sickle jigs.
