    Default Battery question

does it hurt the battery to run say a bubbler plugged into the 12v plug with the battery hooked to a trickle charger?

I'm surely not an expert, But I would guess it would be o.k. I would let the battery take a full charge first though. I would think it would be like listening to your radio as you run down the road and the alternator keeping the battery charged. Most of those bubblers have a very low amp draw.

I do that all the time at tournaments to keep my minnows alive in a big cooler. A 5 amp per bank charger will run the bubbler and completely charge the battery overnight.

Thanks guys--was always wondering about that--not sure where I got it from but always thought running the battery much with the charger to it wasn't good.
    This helps alot.

The bubbler only draws an amp or two of current. Not enough to put a dent in a good Onboard charger.

If you decide to not run it while charging, Walmart has a AC small pump for about $7 in the aquarium section. That's what I was using before I added the 12v double bubble to the boat. I still use a 3 way added to my extension cord while charging batteries. I plug the AC pump to one of the other outlets and a clamp on work light to the 3rd outlet so I can work on stuff at night. Just an idea......
