first time spider rigging

We are coming to Sardis next week to crappie fish and going to spider rig. I have a couple of questions, we are using 2 10 and 2 12 foot rods with spinning reels. will 8 or 10 lb fireline crystal be alright to use? also I am making my own rigs with Don's gnats on top and a hook for minnow on bottom. would a main line of 17 lb be to much if I run 6lb off the 3 way and I am using a swivle below the weight also and plan on using 6 lb there. Will this set up work ok or is there better suggestions out there.I know we are yankees so dont give me advice to not catch fish lol

Keep it simple, I use 10 in a yellow mono for my line on my reels, and my rigs are 17 in a clear line. Was using 10 for my drops but the 17 helps the top bait stay out away from he main line some. Sounds like you poles will work fine, good luck and have fun.

i bought 2 spools of the fireline for like 40 bucks apiece have 4 thousand yards or more think im set for life for line
