Crappie USA Free Kids Fishing Rodeo
In conjunction with the tournament Crappie USA held their Kids Rodeo on Saturday morning with several local children attending the event. All the participants signed up for a chance to win one of 6-$1,000.00 scholarships to be drawn for at the Cabela’s Crappie USA Classic.
Crappie USA and our anglers have contributed nearly $316,000.00 to the “Crappie Kids” Scholarships since 1997. We are very proud to be a part of the education process for the youngsters who participate in our tournaments as adult/youth teams and those who fish in the Crappie USA “Kids Fishing Rodeos”.

"A big thanks to Kim Graham Community Development Director for The Itawamba County Development Council and Paul Walker Mayor of Fulton and his staff for all their hard work for making this a great experience for our fisherman", said tournament director Larry Stephens. "Banners, Flyers at businesses, TV, radio and newspaper were welcoming our anglers. At the Seminar the Mayor and his staff were grilling sandwiches for anglers and the anglers stated that this was one of the best advertised and promoted events they had fished. Saturday morning brought quarter size hail as deep as 2 inches but didn't dampen the spirits of the 38 kids in the rodeo as they enjoyed hotdogs and drinks from the city. The weather leading to the tournament turned cold and saw water temps drop during the week making for very tuff fishing conditions", added Stephens.

    Stats for the Tournament:
Weather-Morning temperatures 45 degrees and cloudy with 5-8 MPH winds. Afternoon brought thunderstorms at 2:00PM then clearing by 3:00PM and 54 degrees.
    Water-Stained and 51 degrees.

I had a great time even though we had the weather to contend with that kept a lot of anglers at home. I really hope this section of the waterway becomes a yearly stop on the Crappie USA trail. Fulton and the ICDC did a great job promoting and making accomadations for the event, especaily the meal provided Friday night.
