I crank them all the time out of the water. Old wives tale, impellers used to be made of rubber, now they are made of a synthetic blend wont tear nearly as bad as earlier model impellers. I am not saying let one run the heat will destroy it, but for a second or two is fine.

As a side note. Was on the ramp at Engineers talking to Feelay. I said " here comes a chopper". Kept looking for about a minutes or so, couldn't find the chopper. Then Carl saw a boat sitting in the lot, on the trailer, with the motor running. That's what I was hearing. Thought to myself. May be a 4 stroke, but it still needs water. Had to be running while they hauled it up the ramp and tied every thing down. Testing his water pump?![]()

Working great. Took about 20 minutes total time. Talked to a guy at the parts place and he said they usually charge about $135 to replace em PLUS the part
