Yesterday they emailed me a study that concludes trollers harvest a greater number of fish per hour than polers. Amazing I know. Still no word why this was not mentioned at the Enid meeting or the pole change published in The Notice of Intent. Also no data showing that the trollers potential harvest rate has had an adverse effect on the fishery.

I still think anyone still wishing to email them needs to communicate these regulations need to be rescinded. If they still wish to lower the number of poles, a new Notice of Intent needs to be issued, meetings held, all sides heard then a decision made by the MDWFP Commission.

hey guys I'm new on this site but could not resist posting. as an old bass chaser I still love me some crappie to fry. I went to Enid yesterday for first time this year. caught the limit on one spinning rod, a float and 2 jigs just fishing some of my old bass spots. these crappie are very predictable almost every year(have one of those bad years occasionally). my question is why do you have to have so many poles just to catch a crappie. I personally like to be out on the lake for a little peace and quiet. why catch a limit so fast. folks lets all enjoy our valuable time on the water......

Its not that fast....I have trolled all day before and not got a limit.....I very seldom get a limit. I enjoy single pole fishing in heavy cover but I also enjoy slow trolling or spider rigging with multiple poles.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

First of all, Welcome to the site. We are glad to have you. Congrats on your catch. I agree with you that catching crappie on a spinning rod with a float and jig(s) is a blast.
However, what is the difference in a limit taken with one pole as opposed to a limit taken with 5 poles? It's still the same amount of fish and the trollers free up parking spots at the ramp.

yes sir i understand. its like a fellow told me on sardis one day. he said "son you catch em yur way and i"ll catch em my way". haha. just don't see why going from 5 poles to 3 is gonna affect some folks that much. with that said I think I'll go try em again. hope everybody catches their share. good fishin to all!!!

Most of us have our boats already set up for two people sitting side by side on the front fishing four poles each.....kind of senseless not to be able to fill all the rod holders up when a limit of 15 fish is 15 fish no matter how many pole you are useing.

    Default Sardis Rod Limit

Just go anywhere else but Sardis or Nader, and you can use 5 poles per person or more if ya want. Sheeeesh, what's the dang big deal.

    Quit whining and GO FISHIN!!!!!!
