Our daughter wrecked her car last night, totaled it and thank goodness she wasn't hurt. She had a 2000 model Alero so it's not worth but about $3000. Think we have a $500 deductable on it and since she's going to be out of college in may or so, we're just going to get her whatever we can with the money we get from the Insurance company. SHOULD get about $2500. On taxes from an individual, do you have to pay them when you get a tag? I know at a dealer you do but was thi nking you had to pay taxes on one when you got it from an individual

To the best of my knowledge you do. When my daddy died I got my mothers expedition and gave my old Malibu to my mother in law and they made her pay taxes on the value of the car even though she didn't buy it.

Glad your daughter was not hurt DD. I been through this a couple o times. Now when I go to bed if my kids arent at home I just cringe when the phone rings!!!!
