If you call customer service for Coleman (1-800-835-3278) they will probably send you replacement handles for free. Most companies are pretty generous about replacing broken parts on their products.

I got a big 100 quart that I replaced the handles on twice. Last time I did the rope thing with some heavy wall 1 inch pvc for handles. The pvc works better than hose because it wont collapse on your hand under pressure.![]()
