He will have enuf room to put a 55 inch flat panel in it with speakers on the sides or in the shelving on the top and plenty of room behind the doors on the bottom for any components he has.

A friend of mine built a large bookcase in his basement shop for a customer. He knew it would be close to not being able to get it out of the basement, so before he started building it he took all kinds of measurements, and tested with sticks of lumber to make sure it would make it up the quarter wind stairs and out. He felt confident he would be able to get it out so he built the thing and when he went to get it out it wouldn't make it. After a couple of months pass by, the customer calls him asking if it was done and he said yeah, it's been done for a couple of months, but can't get it out. So he pondered on it some more and rather than modify the bookcase or rebuild it in his garage, he knocked out a couple rows of concrete block in the basement wall, and slid it outside that way. Measure, measure, measure and when your done measuring, measure some more.
