Default I am about sick and tired of the Bellsouth socalled "high speed" internet, this

service is the pits and has gotten worse over the last few months. I am looking into goin to a satellite for internet as I cant get any other option out here this far out of town. I know Satdoc installs these and was just wandering if any of you guys have the satellite for your internet and if so, how does it compare to the bellsouth internet ? The most I can get out here is 3mb download and it don't ever get up that high. I have tweaked my router, my internet options and the very best I have gotten from "Speedtest.net" is 2.74 down. Any help greatly appreciated

    thanks

    Larry

I have an ATT modem that plugs into 120 volt and a wire that plugs in the tele line. It stays on all the time. I don't have a telephone. It's 20. per month. I turn the pc on and can go all day. No slow down anytime.

Well ATT tells me that my service is weak because I am so far from the switching office or something like that. I cant even get the 6 mb that they offer because of being so far from there station

I am out in the country Larry and the only way I can get high speed is eith with the satelite....or a Hot Spot......I am using Hughes Net. Hook one is useing a Verizon Hot Spot. The neat thing about the hot spot is....it re-charges like a phone and its wireless and also portable.....you can use it wherever you want....It will run up to 4 devices and its about the size of a cell phone.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Larry, who is your cell service with and do you have good reception at home? I used my smartphone as my hot spot at the Bomb Barn and it did great, thinking about getting rid of my hotspot at the house and just use it on our phones.

I have ATT and again, I don't have that great of service on cell here at home, thought about doing away with landline and just having sat internet and cell phones but the signal out here is just not dependable enough yet for me to do away with land line

You can get 3mb down. Nothing will compare in the sattelite world (wild blue) to this. 3MB is very fast. I am not sure what you are doing to use up all that bandwidth, but you sould be able to stream a couple of movies and check email and play on c.c while 2 or 3 smart phones are doing their thing as well.
You could always move closer to town...

I cant get 3MB much less 6MB from Frontier. the 1.5Mb I do buy from them for 75.00 a month never even gets close to the 1.5 MB I pay for. It is more like .8 to .9 MB down and .2 up.
