Have any of you guys or gals ever cooked a whole prime rib? Gonna do one sometime after Christmas. Gonna do it in the oven, so no smoker or grill recipes please.
Thanks
P.S. I ate a smoked prime rib once down at Anthony's in West Point that was wonderful. The last time we went there a couple months ago, they didn't have it on the menu anymore for some reason.![]()

what I do is, 325 dg oven or a table top roster, 10 mi. per pound estimate, some people do 15 mi. per pound, but I think that is to quick. I rub all over the meat using kc master piece rub. mrs.dash, onion powder, marjonram, place the roast in a pan or roster, pour some apple juice in a bowl, add some woschester sauce, tad bit of mustard, dab of brown sugar mix that up real good pour over the meat. let cook till the inside temp is about 140 for rare, and rare is the only way to serve it,,,, now in a table top roster it will take about 4 hours on high with a 5 rib ,,rib roast,,,,,
it wont hurt to check it often after a couple hours to make sure your not over doing it,, after you take it out of the oven cover the pan with three or four big towels let it set for a few minutes, the juices will migrate to the middle of the meat and make it juicer, if there are any left overs.... next day throw on the bbq grill on super high for 2 min on each side and you will have a nice juicy grilled steak....
the above is not a guarntee that it will taste good, it just the way we like it,, so many ways to cook a prime rib and so easy to mess up, good luck and take advice for every source you can, you will find on you will want to use
Any way is fine long as its med rare.
