    6 gauge. If you will start doing things right the first time, you may stop having to do them over. Just saying.

    BTW, I asked him about getting 6 gauge and he said there was no need to get any. He knows I take it out in the salt water a time or to a year as well. He said to Sauder the connectors not shrinkwrap them

    U are running less than 18', 8 will be fine. 6 would be better though. Slather in dielectric grease.

    Your supposed to solder them and then shrink wrap them.......I add a extra step though.....I solder , apply liquid tape....then I heat shrink.......makes a good sealed connection.

    The best wire I have found is the small welding lead. The real limber stuff with a whole lotta strands to it. Course I got a good friend who is welder so its not that hard for me to find lol.

    Make sure you use rasin core or led with rasin and a very hot gun. It has to be hotter than the wire will get.
