It will work just fine. Just in a 5 gal dipping minnows will get shirt sleeve wet. If not happy with it in the cube you can always move to live well and hard wire.
I have two of those, and even tho they do work, there are better options. I didn't like having the pump itself in my container. The suction cup feet on mine came off too. Better than nothing tho.

I've got one. I use it in a 48 qt ice chest and in a cube as well. It works great. In the hot weather I put ice bottles in my containers, because the pump gets warm and will heat your water over a long period of time (a day or two). I have also changed the stand tube on my to fit different heights in coolers/buckets. After a while the top spray cap will get loose, and not want to stay on when you first hook it up to 12v. Just hold it on until the pressure is built up, then it will work fine. Good luck! I like my a lot.
Thanks for the input guys. Might as well try it out since it was a freebie!
Mine is pretty cheap, 7 dollar wally world aquarium pump, 5 sheet of hose, 4 inch bumble stone, and a 12V/110 converter. Pull absoluteky no amp will keep the water good and cool.
I have used them before, the only problem I had was the pump heating the water up.But this time of year won't matter. And free is the best kind. Now get some minnows and go fishing, take a kid.

I did a test with this today in a 5 gallon bucket and like SlabLapper4sure said, the stream was really strong and I don't think I will try it with the minnows.
