Speaking of river trips, I know a fella that went from St. Louis down to NEw Orleans then intercoastal back to his house in GA in a 1648 War Eagle with a 40 yammaha. Took him over a month but said he'd always wanted to since he was a kid. Now, THATs a road trip.

I ain't gettin on that slabbin river in anything under 20x84. Sure ain't in a 1648, few years ago I tried it out in my 1860 and that wasn't big enough
I put a 14' john boat with a 6hp motor in the big river at Natchez a few years age. Those eddies made me feel like I was sliding on ice, had no control of the boat. Thought I'd never get back up that chute.
Usta run the river a lot in my younger years. My longest was from N.O. to St. Lu. Ran it for the world record and got it. That was in "89. In a 19 ft. Starcraft with 150 Yammy.
