You probably notice the pop pop sound when your going real slow and turning. You have to keep a eye on the rubber boots because if they get torn or get a hole in them it will let dirt and grit get in the joint and wear them out prematurely.

Some of them you can replace just the joint.....others you have to replce the axle assemby. I think on your model you replace the axle shaft assembly on whichever side its on. Could be from 300 to 500 bucks depending on the cost of the axle....thats installed.

Ats it G. REAL SLOW on the popping. Now about HOW MUCH does that cost to get fixed. LOL
If it makes the popping sound when yout turning its a CV joint.....if its going left its the left one. If it does it turning right then its the right one. If turning is not involved to make the popping noise then its possibly a wheel bearing. The wheel bearings on your truck are not serviceable......you have to replace the whole hub as a assembly.

If it involved duck tape you could do it yourself, if it is an axle they are not hard to install. Did 2 in 2 days winter before last on mine, when one breaks and you are in 4 wheel drive you are screwed, no more front end. First day we were stuck and had to be pulled out and the second day when we got back on the road the popping was unreal, nother side done gone out. Can get em at Oreilly's with a lifetime warranty for a pretty decent price, if that is what it is. "CHIRPING" to me sounds like a u joint like Speck said. Good luck.

Have you changed a tire lately ? Check the lug nuts .
