Default How do I separate a stuck rod at the ferrule?

I have a 12ft BGJP which I can't break down because I can't separate the tip and the butt section. Any suggestions on how to do this without destroying the rod?
Thanks dad for teaching me to love crappie fishing!!

Grab each section behind your knees and then spread your legs, usually works for me.

Spray some wd-40 on the joint let it sit 5 min and pull apart.

Steve, that did the trick, thanks. I can't believe I forgot that trick. I used to do it back in the 80's. Will it hurt to spray the ferrule with some WD-40 before putting the rod back together?

I wouldnt think so but would let it try before putting it back together, if you got some of that grease you put on battery terminals rub a little of that on there.

Try cold water, I have found that warm water will make your rod hard and not as easy to back out.

And as mentioned above be sure you lubricate you rod before insertion or it will likely cause you trouble in the future.
