I agree with you Chad. This board has lived up to it's name, "Off Topic", lately. I think a lot of it is that folks aren't fishing as much in the heat. Also, the selfish ideas of not giving fishing reports has gotta change. This board is about helping others and we've gotten away from that lately. I'll continue posting Okatibbee reports and anyone who wants to fish beside me is welcome. I believe things will improve when the fishing gets better. Hang in there ES.

Hang in there, ES. No apologies needed, really. As with blood families, we have our rough spots. When it's over, it's over, and we're a family again. Ain't gonna tell ya what billbob said he was gonna do if you don't hang around.

Change is brought on by leaders, and I think you're a leader ES!!! I've enjoyed both fishin with you and BSing with ya too. A winner never quits, and a quitter never wins!!! The C.C site may have changed some, but you must help Lead it back instead of quit. If we lose our true leaders, where will this site go then? You have a very unique style, and we all love that sense of humor you bring to the board. We WILL miss you if you don't reconsider!!!!!

I noticed this thread beginning earlier today although I'm not that familiar with all of the things that led to it or escalated it to the point... that some of you are so disgusted with the forum that you would leave it or feel the need to criticize certain people, the moderators or the forum in general. My late daddy once told me something when I was very young that I never really understood until much later in life, when he said, "Son, I can tell you something right now, the more people you involve in any thing the more complicated that thing becomes."
I joined this forum years ago much like many of you have said you did, because it was (then) a place (and still is) where you could share information about your love for the sport of crappie fishing and the advancement of crappie fishing for the benefit of each other and to take responsibility for the resources and to assure the benefit of the generations of crappie fishers to come. I too see a difference in that in the past I could post a report or an article that I might have taken great care in writing; one that I really felt good about sharing with others on the boards... and in return I would get all manner of support, interaction, encouragement and occasionally could get into some very informative disagreements and debates about whatever the subject matter might have been. The reports and articles at that time would get hundreds and at times a thousand or more views and hundreds of comments in return. It was a whole lot of fun and it was very informative and interactive time for all who wished to contribute or jump in.
Now, I can write the same reports and articles and still get hundreds of views and only a few comments, little support, no interactive conversation, few encouraging words and hardly any constructive debates about any of the tips, tactics and/or techniques or whatever the subject matter. It's a funny thing to me that someone can post a headline "I'm pissed off... " and suddenly that post gets the same hundreds or even a thousand views and a lot more comments... no matter the point, as small and meaningless as it may have been... will be batted up one side and down the other and that can only lead to the very promise of complications and strife that my late daddy spoke about.
Most people are too lazy to make meaningful and/or helpful posts or take the time to contribute to anything, just like a whole lot of people on here are too lazy to fish, but yet those are the ones that will gravitate to a fishing forum... go figure... and I'm guessing these are the same ones that will jump through their own asses to mix up in or even complicate something that has absolutely no place on a family fishing forum like this one to start with... yet they'll sure work their brains to figure out how to have the last word about something or how they might outwit the other one somehow... when the first word wasn't about much of anything constructive to start with. I don't get it either.
I'm with ES and some of the others about that now... and with Barbie too. REALLY!!! We are all grown folks that are supposed to share the same love for a sport and brotherhood for each other, but we can't see what's happening enough to figure this out?? Really!! Shame on all of us if that's truly the case.

If you like his post, you should read his article at the top of the home page now. Talk about wow.
I actually created a separate Special K category on the home page for all his articles. They are all great.
