I'm no car/insurance expert, nor do I know what you drive, but it may of had something to do with the age of your car. If it's a new car he may of quoted a new OEM bumper versus patching the one you have now with filler. I think if its new enough you are entitled to a new bumper versus repair if the car is under a certain age. Something to do with insurance laws and such. I don't know if this is the case, but the repair place may of had your best interest in mind if it was going to be an insurance claim.

I am paying out of pocket, I don't wanna up my premium. N when I say micro chip, I mean micro chip...can't even see it, unless u r me. No need for a whole new front end.
