OK Spider woman.....just get you some foam floats or some plastic drums and build a framework around them and strap the floats, drums whichever you are going to use to the frame work.....then deck it.....get it pulled out in the water like you want it and drive some two inch galvanized pipes into the lake bottom on each side of the pier these will hold the pier in position and let it float up and down in between them.....build a hinged walkway from the shore to the pier.

Thanks G...never thought a thread about a dock could cause suck a stink :).....anywho....foam floats are on the way!! The rest will float into place.
