Me personally I think there are still just as many keepers--just not where most are fishing:). Now if a biologist says it's fished out then ok but otherwise pffffttt.

Just wanted to let you folks know that you are not by yourselves on all the short fish. I fish the Coosa River here in Bama and we are catching about 3-4 short fish for every 1 keeper. Our length limit is 10 on Weiss and 9 for the rest of the state. I do enjoy fishing Grenada when I get to make the trip but I can truthfully say I have only brought home 1 fish from over there which I had mounted. Last time we came over there, this past spring, my wife had such a good time she didn't want to leave. Love reading all this stuff yall post.
to be honest , it's mostly local pressure. How many times have I heard about lakes being on fire and then hear about 100+ boats being there the next time. Lots of folks go get a limit in the morning, go home, dump em off and then go back. then you have folks that fish 4-6 times a week, especially during the spawn and limit out each time. Say 100 folks hit the lake 5 days a week during the spawn and limit out each day. 6 week spawn is 30 trip times 100, that's 3000 times 20, that's 60,000 fish out of the lake right there . No one to blame but them selves
By local do you mean folks that live around that lake, like Grenada Lake local being Grenada, Calhoun, and Yalobusha Counties? I have drove through at Grenada Landing alot this year and more than 50% of the trucks in the parking lot will be from other counties, sometimes the number is 100%.
I done tolt you all that it was ME!!! I sneak down there every spring and seine the big four, take all the fish back to Burfordville and have a giant fish fry for the Burfordville Sportsmen's get together!!!!

Really we all have a part in it . We hear we tell of how good the fishing is and they come . After this year it might not be so good for awhile . On the 4 or the rez . They come down here cause they don't have a size limit . You throw short fish back and they stay short fish . Just like any other animal if take the big ones and breed them to the big ones you get big ones . Same with short ones . So how many years you been throwing short ones back ? You know you may think i'm crazy (and i have papers to prove it ) like the deer went to 4pt rule . You see 100 4pt and below and no good deer . If you see fifty deer you will have one nice deer . And speck didn't shoot all deer . And they will tell you they can't tell how one will turn out when it is born . We are depleting the big gene pool . Ya'll chew on that a little .
