Hummingbird 798 help!!

Guys, just gave my dad one for his bday/fathers day and were trying to get it set up. We've got a regular 8 gb SD card were trying to download the updates onto but it says something about if the card has not been unlocked it will show an error message when put in. Anyone got common sense directions on how to get one of these suckers up and running? We're trying to go fishing Monday and would like to use it...

The SD card has a little switch on it that locks and unlocks the card.

I didn't do anything to mine . you have to go in the 798 and turn the snap shot on to record pictures . I just got A card reader . Mine just said no new updates when i tried to down load the up dates at HB . Haven't tried it lately . I got a 2gb card . You have to download HB hardware . That ought to totally confuse you . done my deed for the day .LOL

Well that was easy enough oleblue! 4 when I signed into the hb website it had like 4 things to download...can the system run without these and does it even need the sd card? That might be a dumb question but weve never fished with anything this nice. If this crap can wait I'm all for it! Thanks for the help guys!
