Default Let's talk about night fishing with lights......

I noticed the thread down below about pullin cranks at night. I was wondering if any of yall have did the floating or submersible light thing for crappie at night?
Before we go any further, yes I have watched the you tube videos on it and I have used the search engine of this site and found a few things about it. But, most everything I have seen is from guys out-of-state using this technique. Surely some of you have tried this here in Mississippi, especially in the summer months.
If you have, I would like to hear from you.
Tell us about your setup, what baits are best, what times are best, etc.
No, I don't want to know where your honey hole is, just some basics to get started.
    Thanks

Well.....The best light that you can use is a Reel-Lite. I prefer the green ones....bigger is best. I have been using the 612 LED but recently got a 714 LED. I suspend my lights 4 to 5 ft. deep below the surface and I fish live bait ( minnows) just outside the edge of the light ring. I set up either in the mouth of a cove or just off of a point where it drops off into deeper water. If you do not have bait fish and other fish coming into the light in 30 minutes.....pull up anchor and go try another spot.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

I looked at bass pro and cabelas and couldn't find a "reel-lite". Where did you get yours?
Also, do you tightline or use slip corks around these lights?
How deep do you fish? Do you fish up by the lights or down deeper?

Duck......look at my signature.....there is a link there for Reel-Lites just click on it. I use slip corks. Like I said before.....I fish the area just out side of the light ring and catch the fish as they are moving into the light to get the baitfish. I usually set my corks the same depth as the light 4 to 5 ft.

Thanks for the nice comments about Reel Lites

Not getting rich, just enjoy building them and reading the e-mails.
On the phone couple hours each day, exchanging ideas on the
concept of night fishing. Talking to customers from all over the world
is my highlight of my day and week(s)

If you have not read what others are saying about the lights, take
a few minutes and read some on this form........

You can use just one.... I used a smaller light for awhile then moved up to a 408 LED and now I use a 612 and a 714. They are good lights nearly indestructable, and have a great warranty on them.

I've heard of people using them in the boat for a light also. Which one would be better at keeping bugs away?
