Default Trolling Motor troubleshoot / help

Fished other morning and noticed on low power that my TM was making a super loud squeaking sound. Sounded like it was coming from the prop so I raised it up and put the WD40 to it. This silenced it slightly and then it went right back to doing it. I noticed if I turned the speed up to the faster ones it would go away.

Questions I have is does this squeaking sound spook fish(spider rigging) and have any of yall had this problem. The TM is a Minn Kota 45 # variable speed hand control unit that is only about 2 months old.

Take the prop off and check it. May have line, or something behind it. If that doesn't do it, it's time for the repair shop. It shouldn't make any LOUD Squeaking noise.

If the prop shaft has gotten bent, you can take a brass hammer and lightly tap the threaded end as its runnin and straighten it. Sounds like what may be happening. I've had to pop mine a time or two after hittin stumps with the prop.

Or you could take that hammer and hit Minnerman in the head....LOL...if that thing is only a couple months old, its still under warranty. Don't hit it with a hammer take it back and get it fixed.

That won't do any good, they gonna tell ya to take it to a service center. Mine has been squeeking for over a year, the fish don't seem to mind.

That was prolly me in the PK, faded camo.

Ok yea I'm pretty sure that was it. When the wind picked up around lunch time you guys put the back of the boat into the wind and didnt move an inch. Quite a site considering I was in a big wide flatbottom and couldnt control the boat at all. Kept telling myself man that guy's boat is set up right. Next time I'll have to squeak over and introduce myself.
