I been thinkin on doin a little upgrading on my electronics. Just wondering how much is 598 or 798 and what is the difference?

The differance is the screen size is a little bigger in the 700 series and you have the ability to connect two units together. The 500 series don't allow you to do this.

Did not even know there was a 598? They have a 596 and 597, which will no be side imaging like the 798. Plus what was said above.

He's right its a 597 w/di. I'm pretty sure they don't make si 500 series.

I couldn't find a 500 with si have to go to the 700 to get that . And on my post there is a link minner sent me for a 798 si . Good luck .

You can only connect the 2 units together if the unit is an HD unit. You can get the 798 DI/SI which I have without the HD on it and save some money. I asked the salesman before I bought it about the HD and he said the picture quality and everything were the same on both units, but that the only reason Humminbird put "HD" on the more expensive unit was to designate that someone could hook 2 units together with that unit.
Now, they sell a part that you can buy that I could hook my unit up to another unit with and it sells for around $100 I believe.

Yes, the 798 series have 2 card slots.
