Good choice
ATM, when WB arrived I spoke to him and informed him that time had been called and he was late. I also asked him if he had a good day and he said yes and he asked me if he could weigh his fish just to see how much he had. I agreed. I'm sorry you feel that "weighing a disqualified teams fish is just plain ignert" but it was at his request. I know if I had a 3 pounder in my livewell I would want the world to see that bad boy if it counted or not.
In my opinion it can still be a fruit jar type setting you just have enough people to sponsor to pay for the permit's and keep it like it has been, friend's family and fishing.the folk's name's who sponsor don't have to be mentioned and what ever is left over money wise from the sponsor's can pay for a meal before the championship or put in for some door prize's etc.like I said keep it simple and have fun I hope to fish next year with you guy's and wannabe's
He didnt forget yo gals, HE SAID WANNABEEs!Roflrotfl:biggrin
S**t happens.
Yikess, with a little bit of hind sight, I will admit you were in an impossible situation Saturday. Obviously, I don't agree with your decision. And I want to half heartedly apologize to you for stirring up so much discord. But I did try to talk to you first.
I don't know if you are aware but one team left Saturday furious. They were mistakenly convinced they had been knocked out of the money by a team that showed up late. If you had made the decision "my way" would have probably been even more upset people.
I think what we need to learn is that we have a lot to still learn. The other tournaments that pull it off without a hitch have had the same problems that we are, they have just worked through most of them.
Yep and in that way we are different. But we started from a public forum and this group takes it public most of the time, as they have for the last 14 months that I can testify to. One thing about it we move on 99% of the time, the FJs are fun and even tho I dont sho it sometimes I have learned alot from fishing them. Sometimes I catch fish sometimes I dont but I see guys that catch em whatever lake we go to and whatever time of the year we go, this motivates me to want to do better.
The top three teams this weekend weighed in 21 feshes averaging 2.157 per fish and a DQd teams with over 16 pounds and a 3 poung kicker. The Big Fish wieghed 2.68 and Cray was rite behind that with 2.66. I may not have done good this weekend but I fished with some guys and gals that I concider friends that showed the crappie world how to get it done. The weights at the Crappie Masters this weekend didnt compare, I realise the difference in fisheries but our weights kicked butt.
We have a good thing here, it needs to continue and as we go through some growing pains maybe we wont have to re-live some of these things.
I for one appreciate the ones that take time to help out and take the heat, my hat is off to you guys and gal this weekend as Barbie pitched in and helped Major at the weigh-in, glad she caught them some feshes.
I'll have you know that I have feshed 6 so far and been on time for the weigh-in every time!!!!!!:highfiveA lesson I had already learned the hard way from the green carp days but thanks for re-inforcing my training. Rofl
As far as the double dose I got some ideas on that one as well, gonna rent me one of them Bs for the Sardis tourney in July, look what they have done for you. Rofl
I wasn't going to comment on this thread, out of respect for Slab, as he requested we end it, and came up with a solution for the boys. So Slab, I apologize, for myself, and for everyone else who posted n brought this back up.
But, since this is obviously not going to end, here is my 2 cents.
THIS IS NOT A DEMOCRACY. We have a committee for that, and what they say goes. Period. Since we are leaning toward making this an actual tournament instead of a friendly FJ...I suggest everyone keep that in mind. If you choose to fish the CC tournaments, you agree to follow the rules THEY set. If you do not like/agree with the rules, you can elect not to fish them. Perhaps someone can invent a "friend" FJ, where someone has said door prizes n trophies (great ideas by the way) in leu if money.
We have already lost good people over this, n who knows how many lurkers...not the image we wanna have, I don't believe.
And that should END any further comments. The committee decides, we follow. No arguments, no debates. Don't like it....don't fish em.
I'm happy to help if someone wants to take the lead on a "friendly FJ". Maybe that way, all these non tourney folks can have an opportunity to fish with all as well. Doesn't have to be every month, can be 1 every couple months...just a thought.
Umm...they're called Fall Camp and Spring Camp. Guess we could add a Summer Camp and a Winter Camp but most guys are purty fat and don't like to sweat and the rest are worried about....shrinkage.
Wannabe...
Good point, although that's only 2 a year, wld like to see a few more added in...
I would like ot see a summer camp myself, not sure about a winter camp tho.
Wish i had.more vacation time so i could.make everything. I only have 10 days a year so im limited.
I'm giving a lot of nap time to fish them.
Barbie I agree with what you said and it's the reason we stopped having tournaments on "camp" weekends....just to keep it informal, friendly and enjoy fishing with one another the way it should be. I think overall we still enjoy fishing with/against each other in a little more competitive environment. This requires rules that have been posted and have been designed to treat everyone fairly and the same. We have a great group of folks in our little series and I sincerely hope that this incident doesn't prevent anyone new from taking us for out for a test drive at Enid or Sardis.
Yikes I dont spider rig, hardheaded, no patience, whatever but these folks are gonna make me start. Gill and Spiderchick both told me they were more than willing to help me get going. I fished several green carp tourneys trails, mostly small stuff but did fish the Bass Champions on the River one year. I can assure you those guys werent looking to help another team out. That is what has drawn me to the FJs, last year you guys help a complete green horn to summer fishing learn how to catch some white perches in the summertime and I appreciate it very much. I am learnig and seeing it be done re-assures me that it can be done. Wont make the Enid FJ but will be at Sardis with bells on.:biggrin
Howdy folks, just got off work, What did I miss:biggrin And this ones for Spiderchick:deadhorse
Go back to sleep MINNER!!!!!:deadhorsebanghead
Ill be nice, I promise. WB said if I didnt play nice with others I could not go out and play anymore
About the camps.......... I do not fish the FJ's.....I am not on the FJ committee. THe committee decides the camps and I help get everything going with the supply list etc. I do this to help them get everything organized etc. because I like to help and they do not have the capability to edit and change and correct and keep the list updated. Doing this is a lot bigger job than you may think it is and I do it to help you guys. That being said.........I like seeing all of you and I love the camps but....two per year is all that I can handle. I help Ed on the site and that is a lot more work than you can imagine. Notice all of the boards are spam free and not like the were a couple of years ago.....thats because I screen all the new member applicants and catch the spammers before they can get in here. I screen and approve around 35 to 50 new members everyday. I do this to help Ed and to help you guys. So...... having additional camps would be a bit too much on my part. Now....that being said.....although I do not fish the FJ's I enjoy keeping up with all of you on them and I personally feel like you have a good thing going and also a good set of rules. It saddens me to see my friends fussing over a glitch or two along the way and a rule being enforced. From where I sit it looks to me like nothing is broke here and I don't think it needs fixing. I think everybody just needs to try to respect each other and get along. We should be like one big family here....like brothers and sisters because thats how its mean't to be.
G you are wise beyond your years
X100000000000
Well said "G" and thank you for the time you put in. Just the little part I'm responsible for keeps me busy at times. I can't imagine taking on everything you do!!! On top of all that, "G" also gives me help and guidance on the MO board when I get overwhelmed!!!!
I don't think anything is broken either. It seems to me, after all the debate the last couple of days, the cosensus is we want strict rules that are uniformly enforced. That means getting a permit for all COE lakes, not changing the registration to the night before, not changing the weigh-in location the morning of the tournament, not keeping over 7 fish on a COE lake, returning live fish to the water after the weigh-in on COE lakes, and be on time or you're DQ'ed.
The more we do this, the better we will get at it.
Why do we need a permiy on a lake that the manager says we dont need it???
