Braid vs Mono

I just put some of that nano Fil on my UL setups for bobber fishing the banks. Suposed to be easy to cast and no twist!!!

After reading some of the benefits of using braid by some of the guys on this board who's opinion I respect I decided to give braid a try. What I found was that once you get it wet it tends to stick to the pole making it almost impossible to use 1/4 ounce minnow rigs. The 1/2 ounce weights weren't as bad but if you tried to shake the line loose then it made matters worse by getting tangled on the rod tip. I tried it on a couple outings with the same results so I ended up cutting the whole mess off and going back to my 10# Hi-vis Vicious.

Yeah it is strong, flexable and has a small diameter, but that crap should be controlled. They should not let just anybody buy it and use. Should have to prove that you at least have a little sense before they sell it to you, and then if you buy 250 yards this year, to replace it you should have to turn in 225 yards to buy another spool.
Everybody says "well I use it so I don't lose my bait". Then the same yahoos will pull off 20 yards of it cut if off the reel, roll it in a ball and throw it overboard, or leave it in the bottom of the boat to blow out later. Well I hate to tell you if you ever hook this crap in the water, you aint getting your bait back, whether you are running braid or not. Then all of the extra line you just lost contributes to the problem.

It is a good product, but since it is like nylon and never breaks down it is very frustrating to snag this stuff in the water. It does not give. You, your equipment, and or your patience is what gives in these situations. Have you ever tried to unwind that crap off of a trolling motor? It sure is fun.

And yes I am especially talking to all of you green carpers with the DD22's and the Carolina rigs.
