Good job, do not settle. There are plenty of dealers, and it's just too bad they all don't know that some people "will" walk.
Oh by the way, used to sell cars. I sold BMWs for five years. It really was a great experience for me. I loved it but I could not see doing it forever. It's actually hard work. I love the brand so selling them was easy for me. So, having said that, yes there are greedy sales people. Don't feel pressured to "buy now" and don't settle for a second rate deal. It's your money, you have the upper hand, period! And a good way to negotiate is to have fun with it too. Joke with them, tell'em oh well, no hard feelings, just have to find a deal I'm comfortable with. No need to feel like you have to give them excuses. Tell'em not to worry, if they do have the best deal, you'll be back. Good luck to both of you.
Thank you Slab for the advice!! Unfortunately I don't have much to do with the negotiations anymore. Once my dad stated "I got this, Happy Birthday"....its outta my hands. ATM wouldn't even let me come in, made me sit in the truckBut I will pass the advice on, between ATM n my dad, by the time it is all said and done, they will probably raise the price! Or lower it just to make em go away... I ain't decided which yet.

If your paying cash you call every dealership with in driving distance and tell them you have cash and what you want. Tell them what your doing and that they have one shot at giving you there lowest price. Talk to sells manger. End of month coming up deals will be made. Calling 10 or more dealers can save you good money. It don't matter where you buy. your local dealer has to honor the warranty. You hold the cards not them. This works just try it. Works on other things to. I really enjoy the process. Wish I was able to do this for a living. Haha.

Barbie, car salesmen seem to think that they hold all the cards. Last time I was in Minneapolis, we went down to buy my son a new Honda. Got on the lot, found the one we wanted, found a salesman and thought we were going to buy it for cash, Wrong! When we wanted to negotiate the salesman closed his little book and said: "Look mister if you want to negotiate, you are at the wrong place. What is says on the window is what you pay. We don't negotiate" That's what we got from every dealer we went to in Burnsville. So we bought it in Memphis and had it delivered to Minnesota. Stick to your guns. BTW, you're up early. Good morning.
I bought a new 4 x 4 dodge and had to have red. Oxford dealer had just what I wanted but would not neg price enough. You couldn't even start to deal with the tupelo dealer. Called dealer in little ole Iuka ms and they were 1500.00 cheaper. But didn't have red. They had the one in Oxford transferred to Iuka. Worked out well. Did not even go to Iuka dealer till the day I went to pick it up. I was not paying cash either. I wanted to drive it back by Oxford dealer but I didn't.

yup, my son could not deal with the yota folks in amarillo so he got on the net and found exactly what he wanted some 200 miles away in a smaller town and got it about 2 grand under the folks in his home town, flew down there, dealer picked him up at airport and he drover it back home.
