Default Me and my Multimeter LOL

Got out there last night and unhooked the number 2 battery on the boat. I checked each one and they're all good. Least while they weren't under a load. I did take off the plate at the console that has all my gauges and checked the fuel gauge. yeh, it's getting fire but did have some corrosion on it. I cleaned it all off, then put some di-electric grease on all the connections and it still didn't work. I recon the gauge has just gone bad. Appears to be a easy changeout though. Just 6 wires to remember where they go LOL Question, Being a gauge, can you check it with the multimeter to see if ti's good? I know you can fuses and switches. Something about continuity whatever that is

The gauge in the tank is an easier check, if it is good then the gauge in the console may be bad. Take it out, with the floater down check for continuity and then with it up or middle ways chenck it again should be some difference if not the tank part is bad.

It's part of the tank. It's the round metal thingy on top of the tank. It'll unscrew and come out.

DD those fuel gauges work off of ground. Go to tank and test sending unit, if it is stuck on over full or way empty then its the sending unit. take the unit out of tank( six screws on round plate with wires) and ohm the sending unit. As you move the float handle the ohms should go up (basically a reohstat). Can buy sending unit and gauge for 25 bucks.

Problem with a bayboat is NOTHING is easy to get to. I'll have to look and try to find the tank. Shouldn't be that hard but I've never looked for it. Just put gas in and drove off LOL
