Depends on engine type. Most gas burners are electronic under flywheel and stator.

I hate to, but have to.
Lawn Mower Parts is where I get all my parts.
Have the mower model number and engine model number ready to enter.

U should be able to go by serial and model # of mower to get model # of engine. Exmark.com is your friend.... Me and buddy are working on one of mine now. Changed idler pulley, one of the spindles, and the waiting on starter to come in tomorrow. It is a 2004 model though. Been a good one til this $400 worth of work.

I bought a 1994 Honda 1748ht lawn tractor for $400. in 2005. It had overhead valves, water cooled. 2 years ago I rebuilt it because it smoked and was failing plugs.I replaced rings, valves and valve guides, and gaskets. That took over 3 months with everything else going on here, and fishing. I was offered $600. on trade for a john deer 130L at $1,000. So at $500. I'm starting over. At Jack's you can get name brand parts or after market.
On the Honda, it ate the belt that runs from the engine to the deck. Local dealer wanted $95 for the belt (same price at Jack's), plus shipping (special order) and tax on top, $126. for a belt. At Jack's I could get 4 aftermarket belts for that price, and last as long or longer.

Thought about posting him a how to video yesterday while I was checking the stator but wanting to be no part of what may happen with that boy and electronics.Rofl
